Direct Store Delivery (DSD) is mostly used in the consumer packaged goods industry (CPG), which includes service from order entry, selling and distributing goods directly to the customer's store by bypassing the warehouse of retailers. SAP's Mobile Direct Store Delivery (SAP MDSD) is based on SAP NetWeaver Mobile Infrastructure and key element to increase the productivity, response time and quality of service to inquiries.  

SAP MDSD combines three key business processes 

Pre-seller Order Taking

Role independent designed, Preseller Order Taking enables roles such as delivery driver and preseller to capture material order quantities and providing customers with prices. This process is especially optimised for the business with high quantity of sales visits rather than slow and time consuming sales activities.

Any orders taken on the mobile device are uploaded to the back end for further processing such as delivery planning for the next delivery cycle 

DSD Visit Planning

The sales and planning functionality enables to negotiate and schedule sales visits, sales calls and delivery visits. Under considerations of logistic operations, delivery calendars are created for customers in the same region. Using DSD Visit Planning optimises your logistic and enables to schedule even next day delivery dates.  

DSD Order Fulfilment 

Whilst warehouse and transportation is organised in the ERP backend, the mobile handheld is used to download all required information to the delivery driver. The mobile device provides during the day all functionalities and information to the delivery driver to handle all common business cases.
